Enterprise Data Migration Toolkit
Ad-hoc migration toolkit designed to move data from a legacy system efficiently and repeatably.
Context
The problem
A large migration programme required faster throughput, controlled data movement and automation across a complex legacy-to-cloud transition.
Ownership
My contribution
- Applied SQL optimization, load balancing and automation to improve migration throughput.
- Developed migration components using C#, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions and stored procedures.
- Worked with Cosmos DB and SQL Server across data extraction, transformation and load workflows.
Impact
Outcomes
- Improved migration performance by approximately 50%.
- Reduced manual intervention through automation.
- Created a reusable approach for ad-hoc migration needs.
- Demonstrated rapid learning and later transferred the same engineering discipline into Python-based ingestion work.
